During the annual “kick-off” to fall season picnic, Roadrunners Soccer Club families showed their generosity and donated school supplies to be given to local Downers Grove District 58 students. For a low-income family with school- age children, the costs of buying school supplies and backpacks in anticipation of the start of a new school year can be a financially daunting task, if not impossible. With the help of the Roadrunners families, supplies for 30 children were provided, enabling them to start the school year with brand new, much-needed school supplies. “Part of the mission of the Club is to mold better people and citizens of the community. By collecting these supplies during the picnic, our players contribute to their local community and learn that it is important to give back,” states Carl Turk, Roadrunners SC President.
