It is with heavy hearts that we inform of the passing of Greg Vogler on September 26, 2014.  Greg was raised in southern Indiana, the 13th of 14 children.  Greg is beloved husband of 35 years to his hometown girl, Maria Schuler-Vogler, loving father of Nathan Vogler, Drew Vogler and Alex Vogler. 

Our community will remember Greg for his tireless energy and enthusiastic support for youth and families.  His community service included serving as an elected commissioner in Downers Grove, as Chairman of the Downers Grove Heritage Festival, as Chairman of the Downers Grove Zoning Commission, and as Chairman of the Downers Grove High School Building Referendum and Library Addition Referendum.  Greg also served on the Board of Directors of the local YMCA.  Greg’s special service to women’s issues included serving on the Board of Directors for Downers Grove Care and Counseling Center, and as founder of Mary Jane’s Hope, a foundation devoted to helping abused women and children.  Greg’s interests and hobbies over the years included serving as President and coach of the Downers Grove Nomads Youth Basketball Club, as President of the Downers Grove Roadrunners Youth Soccer Club, and as founder and coach of St. Mary’s Grade School Cross-Country program.

Greg’s seven year battle with cancer put his health into high gear: he became obsessed with walking and jogging and other physical activity including running a marathon two years’ ago and climbing Mt. Rainier last summer.  His love for soccer took him and his family to Brazil for the World Cup games this summer.
