By winning the Midwest Futsal Regionlas, our Roadrunners U16 Premier team qualified for the Futsal Nationals for the second year in a row.

The tournament took place Feb 13-16 in Kansas City. Our boys lost the opening game 3:4 to ABK Futsal Academy from Michigan. The bad luck continued in the second game where our goalkeeper was shown a red card for supposedly handling the ball outside the box early in the first half. The boys were not able to recover after the incident and lost their second game to Sporting KC academy team from Kansas. With only mathematical chances to advance to the semi-finals, still without the goalkeeper and with another injured player, the boys showed great heart in the final match against Team Xtreme from Ohio and tied the game 7:7. Despite the result, boys represented the club well and showed some great futsal. We're proud of you, keep your heads high and good luck at your next challenge!

To get to Nationals the team first won the Regionals.

The 6th Annual United States Youth Futsal Midwest Regional Futsal Championship hosted the best futsal teams from Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois and Kentucky in St. Louis last weekend, January 16 - January 18, 2015. With 2 wins and a tie, our boys advanced to the semifinals where they had to face a tough local rival from Bolingbrook's Step Ahead Sports futsal facility. In a nerve-wrecking thriller that ended in a 2:2 draw in regulation time, the game had to be decided by a pk shootout that ended in a 3:2 victory for the Roadrunners and their advancement to the finals.
In the final game of the tournament our U16s faced their archenemy Sportstutor from Owensboro, Kentucky, the three time regionals champions and two time nationals finalists. After a good start and initial 1:0 lead, our boys found themselves 3:1 behind after 20 min of the game. In a spectacular comeback, the boys displayed their best performance of the tournament and at the end did not leave any doubt about the outcome of the game and deservedly won 4:3. The newly baked Midwest regional champions (Diego Sanchez, Edgar Flores, Fernando Davila, Dorian Moreno, Christian Herrera, Jokubas Baranauskas, James David, Alex Pacheco, Daniel Schuller and Ronaldo Perez) have secured their spot at the US Youth Futsal Nationals next month in Kansas City, KS, where they will face the champions from other regional tournaments across the country. Congratulations to the boys and good luck at the nationals!!!
