Practice, Rain out and Game Schedules

Spring 2024 training schedules (LINK)

Spring Season Starts April 1st

Please make sure your player brings plenty of water, a pumped up ball, shin guards and black shorts, socks and RR training shirt. Always bring your Roadrunner Pinney. They should wear layers in the cold weather, extra coat, gloves, hats and sweatpants may be necessary earlier in the season.

Inclement or questionable weather:  Always assume training will continue according to these schedules.  Please go to the Downers Grove or Woodridge Rainout websites to determine if grass fields are closed.  If grass fields are closed due to weather, all teams' regular training locations automatically move to Doerhofer turf field and  all teams' training times changes per rain out schedule (safe conditions permitting).  Rainout schedules are posted through the link below:

Spring Rainout Schedules coming soon.

In the event of inclement weather, Roadrunners SC follows the procedure set forth by Downers Grove and Woodridge Park Districts. Always assume games or practices are on unless the park district closes the fields. To check the field status: see the procedure above.  If fields are closed we follow the rainout schedule posted on our website at Doerhoefer or Jefferson Turf field. Doerhoefer and Jefferson is always open except in the event of Electrical storms.
If there is lightning or electrical storms in the area we must immediately evacuate fields if the warnings of the Thor Guard lightning system signals go off.
If Thor Guard is activated, coaches and players will immediately seek shelter (McCollum and Walnut under the picnic area, and Doerhoefer under the concession/restroom area) and wait for the all clear signal.
Coaches will resume when the all clear signal sounds if there is time left in practice, if the signal sounds towards the end of practice, parents should pick up their child from the safe areas.
Please remember to never drop off your child if you don't see other children or a coach especially if you think the weather is in question.

Importance of Training

Training sessions are the foundation of all Roadrunner soccer programs and to do it right, training takes a good deal of commitment from players and coaches. While we realize that players have other activities and interests, we strongly believe that it is important that players attend every training session unless they can not attend for a valid reason. It is hard to expect a player to improve if he or she misses training sessions, or trains poorly. Players will find success by helping create the right environment that motivates others to do their best.

Players should always:

- Bring a properly inflated ball (ball size chart), and wear proper equipment;

- Keep a positive attitude in training;
- Respect other players and coaches;
- Pay attention to the coaches;
- Make their best effort to improve their skills and abilities at training;
- Strive to train at game speed;
- Do not distract others at training or disrupt the training with poor behavior.

Open Training Policy

Roadrunners SC has an open training policy - if you miss your team's training session, you may attend one from another team that is recommended by your coach.  Players are expected to attend the majority of their assigned team’s training sessions and use this option when it is necessary.

Players with a greater appetite are always welcome to attend additional trainings. Please check with your staff coach as they can direct players to appropriate additional sessions.
