Memorial Day weekend 2014 players from Roadrunners girls U11 Black, U11 White, U9 Black and U8 Black teams came together to form a conglomerate team of U10's to play in the Oswego Soccer Classic tournament. Only four of these players are true U10's and they had never played with the younger players on the team that was assembled just one week prior to the tournament. The common theme was that they were all Roadrunners and trained by coaches with common styles and goals. The younger players on the team stepped up to play just as well as the older players. The Roadrunners team played with intensity, showing very little sign of weakness and only allowing two goals in four matches played. They used skills to deceive their opponents and shot the ball hard with both their strong and weak foot to score 11 goals against their rivals. They moved the ball up and down the field with precision passes that you would expect to see from more experienced soccer players. They played as a team with all aspects of a good, well coached soccer player being displayed. They were definitely not one dimensional. In the end the Roadrunners team was undefeated, winning all four matches to bring home the championship trophy. The best part of the weekend was seeing the smiles on their faces each time the final whistle sounded and as true champions they lined up and shook hands with four very good opponents.
